Sasameki Koto 01 DVD is OUT!!!
May 8, 2010Ugh… Due to some hardware problems, we were only able to release episode 1 instead of episode 1-2 (DVD Vol. 1). As soon as we get everything fixed, hopefully we’ll release episode 2 in less than 24 hours and episode 3 and 4 the following day. To those who haven’t heard of Sasameki Koto or Whispered Words, it’s a story of a lesbian madly in love with her best friend who is also a lesbian but is only interested in cute girls. Show is cute, touching and sweet and yuri or non-yuri loves will like it, I hope. =)
Changes: We removed the karaoke effects and replaced it with normal subtitles. I want everything to be light as possible, compatible as possible and easy to play as possible but we still suggest you guys upgrade to at least a dual core computer.
Special thanks to tom and Kobi for providing us the DVDs. Thanks, guys!
Anyways, enjoy!

by Marek May 9, 2010 at 12:25 AMWOW nice work
by Romeyo007 May 9, 2010 at 3:53 AMu made my life easier I was gonna do it after I finish Aoi Hana so Thanks (^__^)
I really thank and commend you for this but i’d suggest that at least include the op/ed lyrics. even without the effects is fine. will keep everyone happy…
by wlfy May 9, 2010 at 3:56 AMThank you for the release, but seeing artifacts like that (http://www.abload.de/img/sasamekidvd9qzi.png)
by osewaninaru May 9, 2010 at 9:14 AMmake me wonder whether spending that much bits on lossless audio is a wise decision. Or was the DVD source that low of a quality to begin with?
That is strange. I compared it with my shot HERE and tested on 3 players (VLC, Zoom and MPC – switching between CCCP and CoreAVC) and I can’t seem to emulate that screenshot.
I thought Sasameki Koto didn’t need more bitrate because the show has little movement. Admittedly, even I failed to see the artifacts you pointed out, they are still present in the encodes. Sasameki Koto 1-4 used our old x264 settings. We’re still tweaking the settings until we get the desired results right. Still, want me to use AAC and chunk in more bitrate to the video? =)
@wlfy:
We did include them. =) We removed any syllable syncing and unneeded effects.
by SHiN-gx May 9, 2010 at 9:58 AMreally? thats weird mine only shows the direct translation of the songs. I even checked the track3.ass and only found that, no japanese lyrics.
by wlfy May 9, 2010 at 2:18 PM@SHiN-gx
I used CoreAVC and Haali’s renderer (PC levels output). I you can get rid of those artifacts by increasing the bitrate switching to AAC or Vorbis would be great. I honestly can’t hear any difference between Vorbis/AAC and FLAC (well, except for ridiculously low bitrates of course) but those video artifacts are clearly visible.
by osewaninaru May 9, 2010 at 8:56 PM@osewaninaru:
Okay then, we’re gonna use this new x264 settings and re-adjusted filters but… only after episode 5. We already have 3-4 encoded. =( We’ll make version 2s of episode 1-4. Oh and…
@everyone:
Care to donate an i7? =)
@wlfy:
Oh, that! We’re doing it the old-fashioned way. Episodes in odd numbers will use the English translations of the songs and the even numbers will use the Romaji translations.
by SHiN-gx May 9, 2010 at 9:08 PMGreat to hear, thanks!
by osewaninaru May 9, 2010 at 9:28 PMah, that explains it. however i’d still prefer if they were done together like most fansubs do nowadays…
by wlfy May 9, 2010 at 9:35 PMwell thanks anyway.
