  1. You guys did a good job, but I REALLY hope you translation checked your subs against CR subs for the final batch. You had small translation mistakes (from mishearing things?) in almost every ep.

  2. @anon:

We didn’t do that, sad to say. We’re confident we got the lines correctly. Still, we’re gonna review the scripts for our upcoming BD version, but that is not to say we’re gonna use CR’s scripts for comparison.

  3. That pride will be your undoing. Oh well, at least get yourself a better pair of headphones or something.

  4. Out of curiosity, is there a reason why episode 9 isn’t in either version of the DDL?

  5. @Sakura:

Whoops, sorry. We replaced it with a version 2. Actually I’m putting it now. Sorry for the inconvenience. =(

  6. Sway ‘n Shake huh? It’s little crap like this that keeps me away from SHiN-gx. Actually, the LITERAL translation is Easy Lily. So, why Sway ‘n Shake. Is it a pun that I am not aware of?

I actually had taken exception to a couple other translations you did. I wrote a polite letter asking why you made those choices (not arguing… asking) and you answered me both times with a snarky, wise-ass comment.

So, this time I won’t be so polite. As professional as this site looks, and as good as the video quality generally is, some of your editorial guidelines seem questionable at best. Actually, you used to have a page that listed your editorial guidelines. Not there now, huh?

Of the things in translation that bugged me, none were mis-trnslations per se. They were just arbitrary “re-imaginings?” I guess. The stuff you do that DOES piss me off is similar to what a low-quality sausage factory like FUNimation does with astonishing regularity.

At least, when you send me a snarky reply this time, it will be well deserved.

P.S. I see you still eschew honorifics. Well, good for fucking you. I’ve already made an intelligent argument FOR them. And the clever answer I received ran along the lines of I was “retarded”.

  7. @stealthmomo:

I thought I kicked you out? And you were being polite? And I removed those pages on purpose? And I thought you said you’ll never watch our version in the future or consider taking a peek at them because there are superior groups out there? WHY?!

Since you asked “nicely” (I think you’re nice this time because it’s the first time you said the F word), I’ll answer your questions. Technically I can’t ignore them because you wasted some nerve impulses just to write this long comment. It’d be extra rude of me.

Before we started out the project, we read a few chapters of the manga (raw and translated) just to get the feel of the story. We can’t figure out what’s the translation of the title Yuru Yuri. Our first translation was “Swaying Lilies/Lily/Yuri/Lesbians” (yuru being “sway,” “jolt,” etc.), but we were not comfortable with it. We believe the meaning of the title lies somewhere in the context of the manga, but unfortunately we didn’t have enough time — the script is being written and the deadline was set. So we turned to the opening theme of the the show and get some inspiration/context. I’m sure you know how the song goes and the general theme of it. After giving it much thought, we picked “Sway ‘n Shake” (yuri can also mean “vibration,” “flickering,” “tremor”). Obviously the translation is just fan-made, not official. We realized the translation a few episodes later, but our translation is kinda stuck, so we’re stuck with it.

Now where are the guidelines? I removed it along with my beloved “The Yuri Side of Things” (tragic, I know), and the FAQ because I want the site to be dedicated to one thing — download anime. No one reads these extra crap (apparently you do) and viola, the blog is now tidy with few buttons, and few pages for me to manage.

“I’ve already made an intelligent argument FOR them.” What was it again? I forgot. Japanese Honorifics are not in English, Visitor-sama. Now, git. Storm’sa brewin’

  8. Nah, it’s cool. I just wasn’t sure if you were aware that ep 9 was missing is all, and I can’t wait for it to be up so I can download it (I don’t always have a connection so being able to watch it offline will be awesome)

  9. Hi. I’m aware you guys/girls are still waiting on fixing the Working!! DVDs before making a batch, but could you guys please seed all of the individual DVD torrents in the meantime? There is a bunch of people on the torrents with no seeders, and if they are like me we want to finish S1 so we can watch your guys’ S2. If you could, we’d much appreciate it. Thanks for all your hard work

  10. @1111:

    Hmmmm… That’d be a problem for episode 1-2 and 7 torrents. We took them down because we made version 2s of them… We’ll re-acquire those episodes and seed them again. For the rest, we’ll seed them, but please don’t expect lightning-fast upload speeds. ;_;

  11. Any news on morita-san ep.13?

  12. Since the other post got killed I’m asking here again:

    How’s it with Morita-san #13 and Season 2?

  13. @My other post: You can delete that thing since the other post is now there again… strange thing.

  14. what happened to Yuru Yuri [TV][480p] (XviD+hardsubs)?

  15. @peterphido:

It’s a bit delayed. We’re planning to release the batch soon. Right now we’re kinda distracted. Sorry for the inconvenience. The batch torrent will be out within this week.

  16. Well, I for one appreciate the “re-imaginings,” as they go a long way in spicing up the dialogue and keeping it from reading like bland, cookie-cutter Japanese scriptwriting. Some people call this show boring, which tells me they clearly weren’t watching your subs.

But, any chance of that XviD batch any time soon?

And like most Funimation haters, stealthmomo clearly hasn’t actually SEEN any Funimation releases since the old DBZ dub. (Or crappy DVD-rips of Fruits Basket, Spiral, Tenchi GXP, Kiddy Grade, or Blue Gender that only included dubtitles and not the real subtitles.) If you look at Funi’s actual subtitles, most of them are fairly literal, often to the point of using honorifics and Eastern name order. Hell, their xxxHolic subs are practically “fansubs on DVD”, minus karaoke effects and typesetting.

  17. @zalis116:

    Thanks for that. =)

We already released the XviD batch torrent. Slow download as usual. Dang…

  18. Can someone Seed the Yuru Yuri (XviD+hardsubs) – Torrent?

  19. Yuru Yuri (XviD+hardsubs)

    DLL- episode 9 Missed!

  20. Hello, don’t you have the subtitles only? That torrent is really not quite fast and I already have the video, so subtitles are the only thing I’m looking for and can’t find anywhere… Thank you.

  21. @Maartyl:

Problem with the subtitles not showing up? Have you tried the links in the How to Play Anime page? Right about there —>

I’m pretty sure you’re missing the right codec(s)/tools. No one else complained about the missing subtitles. Hope this helps!

  22. @SHiN-gx
Sorry for not being comprehensible enough. I have already downloaded your torrent and I’m very grateful for your hard work. But before – my problem was that I had already downloaded the RAW(no subs) so only subtitles (.srt, .ass…) was what I needed, so I didn’t have to download the whole video again. Your files work great, btw. Thank you.

  23. @Maartyl: You can get the scripts from here:

    http://kitsunekko.net/subtitles/YuruYuri/

  24. Hi there, I am wanting to re-watch it and was wondering can you re-upload the XVID DDL?

  25. @Jimble:

Is bittorrent a no-no for you? As of the moment we haven’t picked the right DDL host. The only option right now is get the copy via bittorrent.

  26. @SHIN-gx:
I don’t mind using bittorrent, but I know that most of people use the wonderful old fashioned uTorrent.

  27. @iJimble:

Ah! That makes things easier for us. In case you missed the download link, it’s: http://www.nyaa.eu/?page=download&tid=265691

There are few seeds, but if you keep it on, you’ll get the episodes in no time.

  28. Thank you so much! I will hope more people see this, and start seeding. For those who usually never seed but thank you, you were really helpful. 🙂
